Colombia - Convergence Broadband & Internet Market - Overview Statistics & Forecasts
Colombia's broadband penetration is only slightly below average for Latin America and has been growing at an impressive rate, but the market may flatten as a result of the global financial crisis. Pay TV companies have experienced a wave of consolidation, with the acquisition of six cable TV firms by Mexico's Telmex, and of three cable TV firms by UNE. Triple play solutions are popular, offered by the three telecom incumbents UNE, ETB, and Telefónica Telecom as well as by Telmex. WiMAX, originally welcomed enthusiastically in Colombia, is suffering from the economic downturn. Several companies have launched or are planning to launch IPTV, and the country has selected the European DVB standard for Digital Terrestrial TV. This report provides an overview of Colombia's Internet, broadband, and pay-TV markets, accompanied by relevant statistics, analyses, and broadband scenario forecasts for the years 2013 and 2018.

    Colombia - Fixed-Line Market & Infrastructure - Overview Statistics & Forecasts
Although lower than average for South America, Colombia's fixed-line teledensity measures up favourably with the country's GDP per capita. The basic telephony market, however, is stagnant, with customers opting for alternative technologies and mobility in preference to traditional phones. Colombia has around 30 local telephone providers, partly private, and partly owned by the municipalities where they operate. The second-largest fixed-line company, state-owned ETB, has been seeking a strategic partner to help finance its investment needs. Since the opening of the long distance telephony market in 2007, an ever-increasing number of companies have been receiving access codes to offer long distance services. This report provides an overview of Colombia's telecom infrastructure, together with profiles of all major and some minor fixed-line operators, accompanied by relevant statistics, analyses, and fixed-line scenario forecasts for the years 2013 and 2018.

Colombia - Mobile Market - Overview, Statistics & Forecasts
Colombia's mobile penetration is considerably higher than would be expected given the country's general economic indicators, largely thanks to the country's mobile rates, which have been among the lowest in Latin America. América Móvil's Comcel is the leading cellular operator, followed by Telefónica's Movistar and Millicom-controlled Tigo. Avantel uses iDEN technology to serve the corporate market. Comcel, Movistar, and Tigo all launched 3G services in 2008. As in other Latin American countries, text messaging is growing ever more popular in Colombia, especially among the younger population. Accompanied by key market statistics and analyses, this report provides an overview of major developments in the market and brief profiles of all mobile operators. In the report we also forecast scenarios for the mobile telephony market for the years 2013 and 2018.

Colombia - Telecom Market Trends Key Statistics & Regulatory Overview
Colombia's telecom market comprises many local telephony companies, mostly state-run, and an ever-growing number of private long-distance and broadband operators. The incumbent Colombia Telecom was privatised in 2006, when it was taken over by Telefónica and renamed Telefónica Telecom. Local telephony operators in Colombia need a concession only if they use radio spectrum, while long-distance operators can offer services by obtaining a Convergence Licence and a multicarrier access code. In fact, a single Convergence Licence allows providers to offer long-distance telephony, Internet access, broadband, and other value added services. Competition will receive a further boost from number portability, to be implemented by 2012. This report provides an overview of Colombia's telecom sector and regulatory environment, accompanied by statistical data, analyses, and outlook.
